On any given Saturday during the boating season, you will find Ship 54 Sea Scouts participating in our on-the-water activities.  Boating season in Central Illinois runs from May until October. 

Ship 54's scouts participate in the Illinois Valley Yacht Club's Open Racing Fleet on Saturdays and the Illinois River Star Fleet on Sundays.  We meet at 0830 to start the race day.

Illinois Valley Yacht Club

The Illinois Valley Yacht Club or IVY Club is our Chartered Organization.   This will be the IVY Club's 101 year as the best boating club on the Illinois River.  The IVY Club was named the Heartland District's Chartered Partner of the Year in 2007. 

Ship's Officers

The 8 adult leaders of Ship 54, Sea Scout Officers,  are member of the IVY Club and are required to be fully trained for their positions.  We stand at 100% trained direct contact leaders.

Contact the Skipper

Our Skipper, Jeff Poundstone, advises the youth leader, our Boatswain on presenting a quality ship program.  Skipper has taken New Leader Essentials, Venturing Leader Training, Sea Scout Officer Specialized Training, Seabadge, Wood Badge, Powder Horn, and completed the USPS Boat Smart Course.
